Here’s what we DON’T do:
Offshore/Onshore outsourcing
Offshore/Onshore outsourcing involves contracting services to a third-party overseas company. While there is a cost-saving benefit to this approach for businesses, there are also several drawbacks:
Complex documentation required to ensure minimum service standards (OLAs, SLAs etc.)
High level of admin and governance overhead (legal/commercial/IT)
Conflicting business objectives of the service provider
Loss of intellectual property
No control over your offshore team’s business processes
Your offshore team isn't properly integrated into your business
Privacy and security concerns
Frequent delays in deliveries and gaps in who is responsible for what
Not a cost-effective option for smaller businesses
Offshore freelancers
A potentially less expensive option is to pay someone overseas (often a freelancer) to work on ad hoc tasks. Although this approach may be suitable for one-off projects, there are downsides:
Finding the right resource in a vast market is challenging, especially without the benefit of local knowledge
Recruitment can be very time-consuming
High management overhead in managing deliverables
Little control over when and how work is delivered
Contending with other vendors for the person's time can lead to higher-than-expected costs
Security and privacy aren’t guaranteed
Direct offshoring
Another traditional approach is to set up an overseas division of your company and handle everything yourself: hiring, facilities, IT, labour laws, recruitment, HR and payroll. This comes with a number of risks:
